Corona Virus/ COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh is a part of the worldwide pandemic of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) that damages respiratory organs of human body. The novel corona virus outbreak, which began in Wuhan, China, in December 2019, has expanded to touch every corner of the globe. Millions of people around the world have been sickened and thousands of others have died. The virus was confirmed to have spread to Bangladesh in March 2020. Since then, the pandemic has spread day by day over the whole nation and the number of affected people has been increasing. In order to protect the population, the government declared "lockdown" throughout the nation from 23 March to 30 May and prepared some necessary steps to create awareness to keep this syndrome away from them. Bangladesh is the second most affected country in South Asia, after India. In our country a series of hotline numbers, email address and the Facebook page of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) is provided for people to contact if they suspect COVID-19 infection or need more information. To prevent the spread of COVID-19 we should clean our hands often with soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand rub. We cannot but maintain a safe distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing. For this we must wear a mask when physical distancing is not possible. Doctors advise not to touch eyes, nose or mouth without washing hands. We should follow the instruction to stay home if one feels unwell. After all, if anyone has a fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, none should avoid seeking medical attention. There is not yet any vaccine, drug, or treatment invented for Coronavirus or COVID-19. That is why this is the highest tension point for all. So if anyone gets infected by this virus, he or she should receive care to relieve symptoms and if it results in serious illness then he or she should be hospitalized. Really, Scientists are trying to come up with possible vaccines and some specific drug treatments that are now under investigation.
