Transformation of sentences

 

On the basis of their communicative function sentences may be classified into five types.

  1. Assertive: He is a good boy.
  2. Interrogative: Do you know him?  What do you want?
  3. Imperative: Post the letter.
  4. Optative: May you live long.
  5. Exclamatory: How beautiful the flower is!
